ATPS Collaborates with UNESCO to provide training in Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Formulation and Implementation for Sustainable Development in East Africa
ATPS has collaborated with UNESCO to provide training in Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Formulation and Implementation for Sustainable Development in East Africa. Delegates include selected University Deans, Institutions of Science, Technology and Innovation, the staff of the National Councils for Science and Technology in East African countries.
The training runs from 31st October to 1st November 2011 and is coordinated by Dr Peggy Oti-Boateng, the senior programme Specialist, Science and Technology at UNESCO, Nairobi.
The training is designed for training of trainers in the region.
The main objective of the workshop is to create a critical mass of experts in STI policy in Eastern Africa to enhance the application and development of STI for sustainable development. Specifically, the workshop aimed to:
- Assess the policy environment for application and development of STI in the selected countries;
- Provide training for trainers of STI policy formulation/review, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and;
- Develop in-country action plans/road maps for national STI policy implementation.
