ATPS to participate in a Consultation meeting on ecosystem management and climate change in Africa
ATPS has been invited to participate in a Consultation meeting tagged Ecosystem Management and Climate Change in Africa: a Learning Process to Promote Sino-African Cooperation. The meeting is aimed at promoting Sino-Africa Cooperation in the domain of ecosystem management and climate change and will be held at the UNEP Headquarters, Nairobi on 24th February 2012
The meeting comes against the backdrop of the booming cooperation between Africa and China over the years, which has seen increase in trade and expansion of cooperative areas including science, technology and environment. The objectives: include taking stock of the needs and gaps for better management of African ecosystems in the context of climate change; exchanging information and good practice (including lessons learnt) on ecosystem management in Africa and China; reviewing and improving implementation plans of a few projects funded by China and reaching consensus on the scope and modus operandi for future cooperation.
ATPS will be represented at the meeting by Prof. Kevin Urama, the Executive Director. Others in attendance will be delegations from China, Africa and UNEP representatives.
