Professor Nicholas Ozor, the Executive Director of the African Technology Policy Studies Network (ATPS), is currently representing the organization at the African Union Consultative Meeting on Science, Technology, and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA) 2034. The meeting is being held from 7th to 8th November 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The primary focus of this consultative meeting is the development of the STISA 2034, which will shape the Science, Technology, and Innovation landscape for Africa for the next decade. The participants are working together to draft the strategy for Science, Technology, and Innovation in Africa, covering the years 2024 to 2034.
The original 10-year STISA strategy, launched in 2014, has been instrumental in driving Africa’s technological advancement over the past decade. As this strategy approaches its conclusion in 2024, it’s critical to develop a new roadmap that aligns with the continent’s evolving needs and priorities.
Professor Nicholas Ozor, who is well-regarded for his expertise in Science, Technology, and Innovation research and policy in Africa, is actively contributing to this crucial process. His participation not only represents ATPS but also underscores the organization’s dedication to advancing sustainable Science, Technology, and Innovation for sustainable development in Africa.
Through his involvement, Professor Ozor is advocating for policies and strategies that foster the growth of Africa’s Science, Technology, and Innovation sector. This approach will help address the pressing societal challenges facing the continent and ensure that Africa remains at the forefront of global innovation.
As the meeting progresses, stakeholders from across Africa are working collectively to define the strategies and priority areas that will pave the way for a more innovative, technologically advanced, and sustainable future for the continent.
