The workshop will also explore ways to strengthen science-based media peer networks\/association to enable them play bigger roles in improving the quality and quantity of science reporting on the continent.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives of the two-day workshop are to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve media understanding of the role of STI in socio-economic development<\/li>\n<li>Provide hands on training to science journalists on effective science communication<\/li>\n<li>Launch the Africa-wide federation of science journalists to spearhead capacity building of science journalists in Africa<\/li>\n<li>Provide networking opportunities for science journalists from ATPS member countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The workshop is expected to attract the participation of 30 new and experienced science journalists from various African countries affiliated where ATPS operates.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ATPS Africa-wide media workshop on effective reporting of STI The African Technology Policy Studies Network (ATPS) in collaboration with Science Africa Ltd has organized a media workshop on Effective Reporting Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) issues and their role in socio-economic development.The workshop will be held on 27th-28th July 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya.
