ATPS collaborated with UNESCO to provide training in Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Formulation and Implementation for Sustainable Development in East Africa. Delegates included selected University Deans, Institutions of Science, Technology and Innovation, the staff of the National Councils for Science and Technology in East African countries.
The training ran from 31st October to 1st November 2011 and was coordinated by Dr. Peggy Oti-Boateng, the senior programme Specialist, Science and Technology at UNESCO, Nairobi, with a project grant of USD 10,000 funded by UNESCO.
The training was designed for training of trainers in the region.
The main objective of the workshop was to create a critical mass of experts in STI policy in Eastern Africa to enhance the application and development of STI for sustainable development. Specifically, the workshop aimed to:
